GJ REPORT: BALKANBEATS PARIS STYLE

A part of Gipsy Jungle team went to Paris this weekend for a very special party. DJ Tagada, one of the most prominent french balkanbeats DJ's, celebrated his birthday. The party took place in La Java, a club that in the past hosted big names of music like Edit Piaf and Django Reinhardt.

The place was still empty when Traio Romano started to play, but not for long. Parisians started dancing at first beats of the violin & accordion, and didn't stop untill the party was over in the early morning hours.

The real stars of the evening were the DJ's...at least for the choosy Gipsy Jungle team ears, which have heard a lot of better concerts... For the first time three great DJ's performed together: DJ Tagada (Balkanbeats Paris), DJ Gaetano Fabri (Brussels) and DJ Robert Soko (Balkanbeats Berlin). The temperature rised, the girls and boys were whirling, the beer was runing in streams (untill the source was dry...yes the club actually run out of beer!?).

The DJ's played everything; from the greatest gipsy hits, modern world beats bands such as Balkan Beat Box, Gogol Bordello or even Magnifico, to their own remixes. From time to time some gipsy, friend or fan, came to stage, took over the microphone and sung or played along. Although the scene was very international, it seemed like everybody knew everybody else, and the the atmosphere was suitably friendly.

Since the whole thing charmed us a lot, and we know, the parties in Ljubljana can be just as devilicious and superior, Gipsy Jungle team decided to invite all these great names of balkanbeats to Slovenija. DJ Tagada is the first to come. He will be joining us on the next Haris Pilton Production night. Gaetano Fabri will party with us on Friday, the 13th (of June). And DJ Robert Soko will hopefully visit us somewhere in between.

So, don't forget to drop by in Gromka on the 19th of March for some Balkanbeats Paris style!
