GJ REPORT: HIP-HOP AFROCUBANO

To continue with the impressions from Womex or to be more exact from Sevilla, we have to mention the concert of a young Cuban singer Kumar.
It was an energy and rhythm explosion with Kumar and his crew; lovely Indie on the vocals and hibs, Sergio and Max from Ojos de Brujo on the percussions, and other cool musicians on the bass, keyboars and effects.
The sound would most easily be described as very melodic Afro-Cuban hip-hop, with some reggaeton, funky and latino rhythms. Kumar and Indie were supplementing eachother on vocals and moves superbly. Kumar was always literally in our faces, since he was jumping off and up the stage and slaming us with his powerfull lyrics.
It was a blast, and we were happy to miss alomst all the official Womex concert, to see this one.
The concert took place in Sala Malandar, one of manny clubs in Sevilla. We went there quite often, since the music there is really good. Besides Kumar, we have seen and heard a fresh and groovy set from Floro, a Madrid based DJ.
If you find yourself in Sevilla, Gipsy Jungle team recomend a visit...
