A FAREWELL TO ŠABAN BAJRAMOVIĆ

He was a gipsy king, a gambler, a drunk, very talented musician, who - his words - recorded more than 800 compostions in his career....
Gipsy music will never be the same without him....his white suit, his sunglasses, and most important his unbelievable voice, which gave you the shivers...
It is only proper we say goodbye to the greatest of them all in style. Tonight we will play his music, take a look at the pictures from his concert with the Slovenian band Šukar, drink raki and maybe even play a tune or two in his honour.

GJ REPORT: MUNICIPALE BALCANICA & GAETANO FABRI

The more opportunities the more possibilities!
Warming up at the beginning shy crowd in Gala hala yesterday night was our Didipoka (listen to the set in GJ player). Gipsyjungle fans also seem to be football fans, because the place only got half full at the start of next performance.

Photos by Gadni & Filip Rijavec

Italians played 1:1 against Romania yesterday on EURO 2008 but that didn't stop Municipale Balcanica from performing nothing-less-than-great on stage. During their performance Gala hala received full dosage of gipsy style trumpets and saxophones .
But that wasn't enough for Friday-night crowd expecting DJ Gaetano Fabri's performance. And perform he did! People dancing, singing enjoying themselves right until the sunrise. You'd had to be there! Lucky for you that we recorded this event also. Listen to it in GJ Player on the right.

LAST CALL : MUNICIPALE BALCANICA & DJ GAETANO FABRI

We've tried hard to bring you a good dosage of quality gipsy drum'n'brass, world, jungle and many others rhythms this season, including a couple of great events in Gala Hala. It is time to say goodbye to for the summer (don't worry, just to Gala Hala), and how to do it better than with another great concert. This time we bring you the crazy balkan-gipsy-klezmer-italian crossover from the hot Italian South Municipale Balcanica and just as hot Belgian DJ Gaetano Fabri, who will sure as hell make you dance as he did the audiences in New York, Rabat, Paris and Mexico.
DJane Didipoka
will also perform on Friday with her worldly groovy rhythms.
If you want to find out more about the performing artist, click
here.
Otherwise just put your dancing shoes on and join us on another great dance till dawn party. This time we start earlier, so don't be late....

PHOTO OF THE MONTH: MAY

We've hardly managed through May, month of so many parties and it is time to publish best picture of this beautiful month. Maybe it was the heat of the parties, maybe you were so in love or maybe just busy studying for exams but we've only got one picture. Which is not really bad because it might encourage all of you shy people out there to come to an event and press a button. The only thing after that is to shake that butt until the end of the party and to send us a picture. Why sending us? Because it gives you free entry to a next gipsyjungle event. But enough of encouraging, I always thought that sung words are much better that spoken.
It's time to present another winner of photo of the month...Ladies and gentlemen: Benjamin Mali is back! Go Beno! If you've forgotten he already got the prize for March. As you can see it's really easy to get the prize! Picture he sent us is from DUB ATTACK.
And as said before, send us pictures and get free ticket to any gipsyjungle event you want. photo@gipsjungle.com has a big mailbox!

Zlati zob surprise

You won't believe what we saw couple of weeks ago while drinking nice drought Czech beer at Zlati zob. While enjoying dark beer others lager version of that tasty brand belly dancers surprised us with couple of performances. Our cameraman Gadni (luckily he brings his camera everywhere) captured those nice moving hips.

JUNGLE INNA DI WOODS

My Hell Jackson and Kamnolom present an open-air jungle event of the year. Jungle inna di woods is going to take place in a beautiful surrounding of Kamnolom Radeče. Tricky D, Kingstoned Sound and W.G. will be the music providers.

TRICKY D

Tricky D has been a breakbeat ambassador since the early 90's and is one of Berlin's first underground Jungle DJs and Activists. He got involved in Berlin's cult underground club "In Eimer" and met up with Mez. They became members of the first German live Jungle band Elektronauten. The following years were filled with touring, djing, studio work and releasing music under different names together with General Elektrick and friends. In 2001 he opened the Tricky Tunes Record Store. In 2002, he spent some time in Jamaica, where he and Mez did recording sessions with local vocalists, and decided to start their own record label: Tricky Tunes. Their releases have featured many international vocal talents such as Daddy Freddy, Labrador and Lyrical Banton. They continue to build up their network of underground producers, and are still keeping vinyl alive and spreading the vibe across the place.
