GJ REPORT: SHAKALAKA, SHAZALAZA.....SHAZALAKAZOO

Shazalakazoo came to visit and impressed us again with thier sets in Ljubljana, Vienna and Portorož. The last venue was not really full, since the cold and the house loving fans obviously stayed at home that windy Sunday morning, but a few real fans showed up and made the day.
But why would we talk abuut the music, when you can listen to Balkan Breakz yourself. Our soundmaster Gvido was at Shazalakazoo's set at Trnfest and recorded their oldies goldies as well as the new and fresh songs. Enjoy the listening!

WAITER, SOME BALKAN BREAKZ PLEASE
Listen to the last recording |
This time they will serve their breakbeat, drum'n'bass and other electronic rhythms, blended with Balkan and beyond melodies, twice. First they will make us dance all night long at Trnest and a couple of they longer they will stir the boring and monotonous Slovene seaside with the performance at freshly openned Glow Supper Club.
Multitalented production duo Milan Djurić and Uroš Petković were quite busy this summer. They started off with a German tour, stopped in Holand, performed at various festivals (third appearance at Exit festival among others), and are now doing a little Habsburg tour, which started in Croatia and then takes them to Vienna, Ljubljana and Portorož.
In the meantime they are also working on their material, which will hopefully soon see the light of day in a shape of an album. All of the potential publishers, don't be shy...
As for everybody else; if you think you can move your feet to the rhythm of their beat, show up on one of the previously mentioned venues and enjoy. Let's dance!

GJ REPORT: PRIVAT ORIENTAL
Another edition of Oriental party is behind us. It was more privat Oriental this time, since the bad weather scared a lot of people off. But the intention was to enjoy the music and dance, and that goal was achieved!
Tanja & Lili openned the dancefloor with a lovely mother/daughter duet, Anja charmed us with oriental elegance, Maja warmed us up with some hot čoček, and tribalishious Aysha, Daša & Zina left us speachless with their sharp moves, unbeliavable isolations and muscle control, all wraped up in a beautiful tribal drum.
The audience was impressed and the bravest joined the girls on the dancefloor. Thanks to all of you! You sure spiced up the rainy and gloomy Friday evening!
PS: Apart from the photos in the slideshow below, you can also check out the pictures at Bloganje po orientalsko.

GJ PRESENTS: ZLATI ZOB GOES ORIENTAL

With grooves from Egypt to Arabia, provided by lovely miss Didipoka, with moves from Balkan round dances to almost unbelievable isolations of tribalicious girls...
After a successful premiere in May, we decided to make the Oriental party a permanent affair. So the dancers get a chance to use their moves outside the dancehschools, to let go, forget about the choreographies and just relax and dance...
Dancing is one of the great pleasures of life, using dance as a way to go into trance takes back 40 000 years to our shamanic and aboriginal ancestors. Since before time we have listened to the beat of our harts, then we began to move like the animals we worshiped. Now your feet firmly planted begin to deeply breathe. Feel the power of your breath moving in and out and you'll find yourself in trance. It is time for as all to dance again!

GJ REPORT: CIGANIZATION OF TRIESTE
A Gipsy Jungle expedition visited Trieste a week ago, to see Shantel and Bucovina Club in concert again. And it was something special! Maybe becouse we haven't seen them for quite some time, maybe becouse of the charming outdoor setting of the concert on the beach (if one ignored the cranes on the construciton site near the venue), maybe becouse the the guys played in front of the full house for the first time in Italy, or maybe becouse of the constant trubles with electricity, which even went off in the middle of the concert.
The concert started with a big delay, but when it finnaly started, it was one big shot of energy from beginning to the end. And the audience, among which was a lot of Slovenians from both side of the border, rewarded it big time. Youngsters and old ladies were dancing, jumping, singing along all evening long.
One of the most likeble things about the band is, despite the constant touring, the guys and the charming and energetic singer Vesna Petković, are still having lots of fun.
And the performance, which of course includeded all of our favourite songs, was completely different than the recordings on the album. They added some ska and some reggae into the songs, played it faster, added a solo which just wasn't there before...
During Disko partizani the trubles with power repeated. In the middle of the refrain, just when Shantel and Vesna were singing ciganizacija, ciganizacijaaa, the instruments went quiet, the light went off. But the crowd just continued to sing and dance. Some 30 seconds later, when the current went on again, it was like a little explosion of positive energy and music. And it stayed like that until the very end!
