ŽIVOT POČINJE NAKON TRIDESETE
About a year ago this page first saw the light of day and we've been working really hard to keep it up to date, with lot's of good music, pictures, videos, reports and tips for good night out in Slovenia and abroad.
About 30 years ago (give or take a couple) some of the Gipsy Jungle Team members were born...
All this anniversaries call for a celebration, and how would we celebrate, if not with a Gipsy Jungle Party.
It will take place in Tovarna Rog this Saturday and all of our friend and good music lovers are invited. DJ's Stoner, Tito and lovely Luna Morado will take care of the music, you can take care of the dancing. See you on Saturday!

PHOTO OF THE MONTH
It's time for the winning photo of October. This time it is a picture of an oriental dancer Staša in her element on one of our monthly Oriental parties. The pic was taken by Mateja Šoba Kosič, congratulations!
This is a good occasion to remind you all, to take pictures on any of the Gipsy Jungle events and then send it to us (photo@gipsyjungle.com). The winner will be
be awarded with free ticket to our next upcoming event and photos will be published on our site.
If you need a few sugestions, this week Luna Morado will take us to Latin America twice, on Wednesday with Music of Argentina and on Friday with Latin Underground Fiesta(@Zlati zob). On Saturday, we have a special birthday celebration and of course all of the Gipsy Jungle friends are invited. And next Saturday is the time to go Oriental once again. So plenty of occasion to take a picture or two and send it to our crew.
See you around!
GJ REPORT: HIP-HOP AFROCUBANO
To continue with the impressions from Womex or to be more exact from Sevilla, we have to mention the concert of a young Cuban singer Kumar.
It was an energy and rhythm explosion with Kumar and his crew; lovely Indie on the vocals and hibs, Sergio and Max from Ojos de Brujo on the percussions, and other cool musicians on the bass, keyboars and effects.
The sound would most easily be described as very melodic Afro-Cuban hip-hop, with some reggaeton, funky and latino rhythms. Kumar and Indie were supplementing eachother on vocals and moves superbly. Kumar was always literally in our faces, since he was jumping off and up the stage and slaming us with his powerfull lyrics.
It was a blast, and we were happy to miss alomst all the official Womex concert, to see this one.
The concert took place in Sala Malandar, one of manny clubs in Sevilla. We went there quite often, since the music there is really good. Besides Kumar, we have seen and heard a fresh and groovy set from Floro, a Madrid based DJ.
If you find yourself in Sevilla, Gipsy Jungle team recomend a visit...

GJ REPORT: BALKAN BOY @ WOMEX

As we mentioned, a Slovene artist Magnifico with his bend Turbulentza performed on this years edition of Womex.
The concert was quite a succes, and the positive after effects are already being noticed, with new gigs booked straight after Womex appearance.
What can we say about the show itself? It was on programme late, but the pavillion on Plaza Espana was still quite full... The show started with the hit Avanti popolo. Other songs from the new album Grande Finale ( iThink, Bosangero Nero, Emily, Ubiču te, The land of champions...) followed. The proof of Magnifico's popularity over the borders of our little alpine land, were the enthusiastic cheers of some Italian guys, when the band played the first tones of Hir aj kam, hir aj go. This and Madona were actually the only two old songs that Slovene Madonna, as Magnifico was described in the programme book due to his constant changes of image, played.
The Gipsy Jungle part of the audience was quite disapointed Dennis Beganovich aka Kiki, Magnifico's trombonist and back vocalist, wasn't around. The brass section just wasn't as effective as it should be. We also missed some of the more Balkan sounding songs.
But all in all, it wasn't bad, not at all. The positive critics or our friends and even the members of seven samurays (the jury at Womex) are a living proof. Some were not that impressed; they said the show was good, but they've expected more. What is certain is, Magnifico brought a breeze of modernity and pop in to some extent traditional concert scene.
