GJ REPORT: TRUMPHETS, SNOOP DOGY DOGY & VODKA OVERDOSE

A couple of weeks ago our very dear friend Balkanxpress stopped in Trieste. The place of the crime was Ausonia, the motive for his visit a good party. The ferragosto is probably to blame for a little less visitors than usual, but the ones who were there, proved to be real disco partizani. Rezident DJ Stoner warmed the place up, Kosta Kostov aka Balkanxpress continued with a little bit of his own production as well as the other rhytms from the rich treasury of Balkan, Gipsy and World music.
The very nice and warm reception we always get, when we come to visit our Slovene and Italian friends in Italy is to blame our memories of that evening are a bit blury, but one of our friends summed it up well: Thank god, you recorded the whole think, because I was so drunk I don't remember a thing...
And we indeed did record it all! You can listen to the DJ Stoner and Balkanxpress sets here. Also featuring is a little movie, a snapshot of two parties actually.... One is the monthly Oriental party in Zlati zob, which transformed itself to Opacupacija in August, and the other is before described Ausonia Balkanxpress party. GJ REPORT: WHO'S THE KING? FERUS IS!

This year's Trnfest programme is, to be honest, really shity. If you are in the mood for more than a beer and a chit-chat, you will be disappointed for sure. There are occasional good parties inside KUD France Prešeren. But without the air conditioning in the hall, it's a stinky, sweaty hell inside.
One of, if not the only, highlight of this years programme was last weeks a concert of Ferus Mustafov and Džambo Aguševi brass band. It's true, this very artist performed in this very same club about a month ago, but lucky for the organizers, Ferus Mustafov has so much material to share, he could play ten successive concerts in one place, and they would all sound completely different. But all excellent for sure. Like this one was. Actually we did not even see a lot of Ferus on the stage. He gave space to the young and talented band, but when he did step in front of the audience, he blew us all away as always.
After the concert, we put the gas masks on and continued the party in the oxygen-free dancehall with DJ Tito. This part of the night was recorded by the Gipsy Jungle team, so the whole set is just a click away. Enjoy!

GJ RECOMMENDS: BALKANXPRESS ON THE WAY TO TRIESTE

On Saturday the fastest train in Balkan music will arrive on platform 1 in the Trieste railway station. Later on the engine driver, Mr. Kosta Kostov, will perform his wicked set in Ausonia, the summer residence of Etnoblog club.
You might remember him from the Esma Redžepova and Fanfare Ciocarlia concert in Ljubljana in June, or from gipsy music parties all over the globe. Joining him behind the decks will be Etnoblog resident DJ Stoner. Visit recommended!
