Gipsyjungle goes gipsy in London!
Last Saturday we visited Stranger than Paradise party, that is also known as Gypsy Madness in Brixton in London. We listened to two bands, first was called Victor Menace performing Gypsy Swing and Nu-fangled Tango, second was The Penny Black Remedy, the international cast, of Balkan Country Punk and Ska juggernauts. Between the concerts there was winter warming from the tantalizing Keda Breeze soaked in champagne and the dazzling Honey Lulu and sounds from the mixer lead by DJ Sacha Dieu who put on also one of the new songs from Bregovic, i.e. Gas, gas, gas!
It was big fun, not that gipsy as we expected, but fun. The two problems are obvious, beer is much too expensive in UK and it all finished at 2 am!!!

First there was an idea, then it was the etno-electro jam
First there was an idea, then it was the etno-electro jam, now there is audio and video footage. Thanks to the Gipsy Jungle technical team, you can catch a glimpse of what was going on in Gromka last Thursday. Enjoy and feel free to tell us what you think.
GJ REPORT: I JAM, YOU JAM, WE ALL JAM
It snowed and it was cold - some would say it's a curse - we say it's an ideal situation for a Gipsy Jungle party. DJ Tito and a bunch of musicians were keeping us warm with their improvisation on instruments and vocals. Uroš, Jimi Rasta, Adi, Marko, Vesna, SunnySun, Alan and Sinan mostly met two hours before hitting the stage the Gromka. But the vibe among them was very positive and the audience felt it. There were some mistakes in the set, but they didn't really bother the audience. It was a jam session anyway! Danceable, simpatic and worth repeating it!

GJ RECOMMENDS: CULTURAL RECYCLING - BALKAN STYLE

This week will be a good week for all the Balkan beats music fans. The pioneer of so called Balkanbeats, Robert Šoko is coming to town. He started playing this kind of sets years ago. It was not as popular as it is today, but his Balkan heart missed a bit of Balkan temperament and energy in cold Berlin, and so - step by step - Balkanbeats were born. What Goran Bregović did for the Gipsy music in general, Šoko did for this kind of music becoming popular in bars and clubs. Others followed and now you can find a Balkan beat DJ under every rock. But this time we'll have an opportunity to check out Mr. Balkanbeats himself, accompanied by Haris Pilton. The event will take place this Thursday in Kino Šiška.
Also not to miss, is the Friday concert of Kiril Džajkovski. Kiril Džajkovski is a musician, composer and producer. This days he and his band are one of the hottest, well kind of Gipsy Jungle sounds, in the world. He already made Križanke dance in the summer, this time we'll dance, jump and sing along in Cvetličarna. Enough of words. To get an idea of what's about to hit you, check out the videos bellow. Let the show begin...
GJ PRESENTS: ETNO ELECTRO JAM

After a little brake Gipsy Jungle returns to the bosom of Klub Gromka with a very special etno-electro live act. DJ Tito (Koromandija) behind the decks will take care of the musical fundation, while different musicians will share the stage and improves to the beat. Sooo, lots of percusions, some brass, some MC-jing, some singing, some who knows.... All we know is, they will take care of our dancing and partying needs. If they don't you're allowed to throw different items at them, as long as they are soft. Welcome to the etno jam, Gipsy Jungle style! Šopaj!!!!
PS: Welcome drink for the earliest guests. Rakija a day keeps the doctor away!

GJ RECOMMENDS: DRUM'N'ZEZ HIT THE POOL
Last March a bunch of crazy Serbian visited Slovenia and took it by storm with it's lively Panonian surf-pop or agro-reggae as they like to call their music. And guess what, Drum'n'zez is back! Actually, will be back soon! This time, they will entertain us with their happy and sunny music at Izbruhov bazen in Kranj. So, what does it sound like? Like reggae, ska, surf, pop, rock, dub and some world music sounds.
They have first came together in 1997 and used to play on the banks of the river Danube. Ten years later, the group published it's first album Iz slane vode. The band appeared at manny festivals (Bitola open city, Pula Seasplash, Exit), but the commercial breaketrough happened in 2008, when Drum'n'zez took place in the Serbian Eurovision contest. The band did not win, but got a lot of publicity as well as the label, which was ready to publish band's last album Dunava ukus.
As the guys say (and we believe them), they have a recipe for love and you. Looking forward for them to share it with us once again!
