Raw cacao porridge with oat milk

Porridge is the best food to jump start your day!
This recipe of Scottish origin dates back to medieval times and, though originally Scottish, the porridge has later become a characteristic dish both in England and in the United States.

This simple dish was a recourse of the poor as only two ingredients are required to prepare it: oat flakes and water. Once it has been the dish that accompanied the workers throughout the day.

The oat is a species of cereal grain rich in fibers and proteins with many beneficial properties.

The porridge is perfect for colder days, and it pairs very well with a cup of steaming tea.
Today it is customary to replace the water with vegetable or cow milk to add depth to the porridge and then, according to your personal taste, you might want to add fruit, honey, maple syrup, chunks of chocolate, walnuts, etc. Today I suggest we use raw cacao.

INGREDIENTS (serves 2 people):

6 tablespoons of oat flakes
a cup of oat milk
a spoonful of raw cacao
a handful of chopped almonds and hazelnuts
a tablespoon of cacao nibs
chocolate flakes and pumpkin seeds to garnish


Heat the milk in a saucepan, when it is hot add the oat flakes and mix well until completely absorbed.
Then add the cacao, almonds and hazelnuts, continuing to stir.
Serve with pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips.
